If given a choice, we will always go for the more comfortable option because it’s part of nature as human beings to love comfort and understandably so because who in the right mind would like to go through difficulty if there was an easier option?

The problem with comfort though is that it can stifle us and stunt our growth. It can kill our dreams once we become too complacent.

Getting out of our comfort zones is one of the keys to success but it is easier said than done.

Stop Trying To Be Perfect

One of the things that hold us back from fulfilling our dreams or from going after our passion is the fear of failure. We are so scared to fail that we try to get everything to be perfect before we take action.

If you want to start a business, just get it over with and begin. Stop over-analyzing everything if you’ve already planned properly. You don’t have to wait for the market to be at its peak, you don’t have to wait until you’re good at selling, you don’t have to wait until you know everything.

As the great Zig Ziglar once said, “You don’t have to be great to start. You have to start to be great.”

Success Lies Outside Of Your Comfort Zone

People who have achieved great success like Steve Jobs, Richard Branson, or Warren Buffet did not become who they are by doing the easy tasks. They did it through hard work and courage to do the things they were not comfortable doing.

You can’t learn or grow by doing something easy and familiar. Growth happens when you do things that test your capabilities and creativity. Things that will challenge you and bring out the best in you and believe me, they cannot be found in your comfort zone.

Conquer Your Fear

Most of the time, the reason we are afraid to get out of our comfort zone is because of our fear of failure. We’re so afraid of failing that we keep ourselves from taking risks and just stick with what we’ve been used to so we can minimize the probability of failing.
Failure isn’t as bad as we think. It is through failure that we learn life’s most valuable lessons and it is through these lessons that we grow and eventually succeed in life.

Conclusion

It is good to be comfortable in doing something but don’t stay complacent for much too long because if you really want things to change, you have to change too.
